With the aim of providing user-friendly and client-oriented services, it is part of our service offer that we collect, process and use your personal data. The following information describes which of your data we collect and how we handle it.

1. Which data is collected?
You may always visit our websites without disclosing your personal data to us. However, certain services on our websites require registration which means that we require details such as your name, e-mail address from you. This data is called inventory data.

Whenever possible, we give you the opportunity to decide whether you want to disclose your data to us. In certain instances, data is also collected automatically. Your computer, for instance, automatically discloses data such as IP address, browser type or access times when you use our websites. This data is called usage data.

2. What are Cookies and Tracking?
“Cookies” are files deposited on your computer when you visit our website and are “memorised” by your browser. Cookies may be blocked by your browser to the extent that e.g. only the page which has set them is permitted to read them. When you next visit this page your browser sends the cookie to the server, e.g. to offer you new contributions pertaining to your field of interest during your visit.

If you don’t want to utilise the advantages of cookies you may simply delete these and deactivate the function in your browser. This means, however, that we shall not be able to offer you certain services on our website. You will find more information in this regard in the help function of your browser.

In addition, we use so-called tracking or GIF-files as a backing for online advertising and, if required, for the IVW-count. This enables us to evaluate how many visitors have frequented our web pages and which advertisements they accessed. Information received through cookies or GIF-files neither contains your name nor your address, telephone number or e-mail address.

This website also uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses “cookies”. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website (including your IP address) will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States . Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity for website operators and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage. Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google's behalf. Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser, however please note that if you do this you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website.

3. What does Vogel use your data for?
We apply cookies for the distribution of advertising and for counting page visits, in particular. We can, furthermore, compile pseudonymised usage profiles for purposes of advertising, market- or opinion research or need-based configuration of our services. This enables us to examine our services for popularity and to continuously improve them. You are at all times entitled to object to this usage. In this case we request you to also deactivate the cookies in your browser. We need your approval for further utilisation.

Furthermore, we use anonymised utilisation statistics to illustrate our services to potential partners, advertising clients and other dialogue partners.

Subject to your consent, we use your data for advertising purposes. You may revoke this consent at any time, which we again point out to you in the advertising messages.

4. Does Vogel pass your data on to third parties?
Subject to your consent only Vogel may pass your data on to companies within the Vogel Media Group or to such clients of Vogel whose services you retrieved (e.g. the whitepaper of a certain manufacturer). When retrieving the service you will recognise the company in question and will be able to decide whether you want to download this third party offer or not. This data is passed on for purposes of advertising and market- or opinion research only.

5. Can utilisation and application of personal data or this data protection declaration change?
Handling of personal data is continuously monitored by us with reference to data protection regulations and adjusted if necessary. Please study our data protection declaration, which reflects our up-to-date policy for handling of personal data, regularly. We shall announce changes here and in your user account as required.
